I don't get it, how does the world being absurd or meaningless mean that you should kill yourself? I don't get how you would come t that conclusion

Well he’s saying the opposite of that so I don’t know what you’re getting at. If you’re referring to the problem he tries to address, it’s that many people feel that life is not worth living if there is not some form of external validation that gives them objective purpose.

because the form of its absurdity is a contrast between the human desire for meaning and the meaningless world. Which makes ppl sad. But Camus says 'don't be sad! rebel!'

This is actually above par for French philosophy, being merely stupid instead of gibberish

He isn't exactly saying the opposite, but he certainly doesn't make OP's claim either. For him, given the Absurd, suicide seemed for him to be the only poignant philosophical question. He's looking for a way out of that *despite* Absurdism being the case. That's his struggle.

he's french. that's what they do, surrender

Even Meursault fights at the end. No suicide there.

That's the fucking opposite of what the book tells you to do. Jesus Christ.

> didn't read the book
Ffs it isn't exactly the Husserlania... Go find the book online, take an hour to read it and come back once that is done, then we can have a discussion.

Was Camus the most handsome author? Looks good enough to be an actor

Camus is like the holy grail of pleb filter writers. Wrote some of the greatest works of fiction and effortlessly made a more poignant contribution to philosophy than any other french up his own ass gibberish spouting rat of the century. His best work can be read in a day and yet, so often you see retards like OP completely baffled by them. I love this man (no homo).

Depends on the angle, he was sometime pretty goofy looking, but he still pulls it off better than most. He wasn't terribly tall or large tho.

Well, Maurice Merleau-Ponty and Emmanuel Mounier were also very good. But I think most people don't get how personal the Myth was for him, they think it's an existential book like any other, while it very much is Camus trying to figure out why he shouldn't kill himself.

He made contribution to philosophy but he wasnt a philosopher and thats where people get filtered.

Hes saying the individuals relationship with the universe is absurd. You can't possibly ever understand it. He wasn't calling the universe absurd. Although I do think it is absurd.

This, apparently weither the Absurd was ontological or not was a(nother) huge point of contention he had with Sartre.

I did read it that's why I made this thread, he started it saying that suicide would be the obvious conclusion before explaining why it's not

Ok, so what don't you get?
