Is it worth reading?

>Anyone who has not read the text carefully - a clever, profound text that deliberately uses the alliterative scheme, which deserves the highest respect and not the mockery of those who do not want to think about operas - who has not read the text carefully and understood it word for word, so to speak, in the performances of the RING he will do what only the Rhine daughters are allowed to do, he will 'swim'.

Wagner thought he could replace the Greek chorus with the constant stream of music, yet then the question remains whether or not music can articulate an ontological truth as the chorus did.

The only real solution to this is the following, that by its Gesamtkunstwerk nature the meaning of the work is dependant on more than just word and music, though they are the primary means for the artwork. The visual, the scene-painting side of it holds a meaning which otherwise the music would have to further attempt to encapsulate and it would become a tone-poem. And so by the music's unity in the drama, it can give an ontological meaning. Who could forget the suffering motive of the wound in Parsifal?

Wagner's art is the most sensual the ideal can be, before becoming a lesser art like cinema.

Cinema is simply a lesser art, though it has an indomitable uniqueness.

Baz Lerhman movies are Opera, you're just an insufferable snoblet who thinks it's the ultimate artform because you finally managed to read some essay about Wagner.
