Je me demande tout simplement pourquoi les anglophones négligent leur propre patrimoine littéraire et s'amusent à lire Baudelaire en anglais quand ils n'ont même pas lu la plupart des pièces de Shakespeare, les poèmes de Byron ou de Tennyson.
Ce n'est pas du "snobisme", bien au contraire.

Il y a une part de vérité dans ce que tu dis, mais Baudelaire occupe une place tellement importante dans le patrimoine poétique occidental que très franchement ça ne me choque pas forcément. Un français lisant Goethe, Dante ou Shakespeare en traduction avant d'avoir lu Mallarmé ou de Vigny ne me choque pas non plus. Après de là à en faire son poète favori...
