I think there was a killer/thief who learned psychological types from reading Jung (so less than 16) and was able to apply it towards manipulating people pretty successfully throughout his endeavors. I'm sure it's like mathematical systems -- whether it's base-10, base-20, base-60, etc. -- you'll end up with close to the same results either way, as long as you learn the system you choose in and out.

It’s simple. Are they introverted or extroverted (I and E)

Do they see the big picture or focus on minor details (N and S)

Do they tend to follow their heart or their head (T and F)

Do they plan and live a structured life or do they tend to adapt and be spontaneous (J and P)

Honestly MBTI’s are very broad and don’t go into much depth, but they give you some stuff to understand and just highlight some specific features for you to detectv

I think that having a general understanding of someone's type will open more doors when it comes to understanding them on a deeper level. If you also can keep in mind specific people you've met who've had the same typing, referring to that experience can make it far quicker to get in someone's head.
Example: By inferring someone is an INTP, you can conclude that underneath the surface they are very emotional to an almost childlike extent, and that can be taken advantage of.

MBTI is fine as a descriptor but it's not a definer. Personalities are not static and I used to take the MBTI test every couple months in my teenage years. I almost always got a different result (though there were obvious things that stayed static like NT) depending on my mood at the time. As an adult I seem to have stabilised somewhat to INTJ where I used to mostly get INTP but I have still gotten E on occasion (I tend to redo them whenever I see threads pop up/it becomes popular again and people ask what mine is and I hide my powerlevel by pretending I've never done it before).
tl;dr it's descriptive of current mood not prescriptive of future performance

Like, you can answer 300 questions or put in your birthday, either way you get a vague personality type that's nearly interchangeable.
