what is it exactly? If it's a philosophical work or a collection of poetry then it wouldn't be too bad.

You sound like Holderlin. By the time he was an old man, it was impossible to introduce new books to him (one of these attempts was Homer, which he never got around to), so he just read all the same books repeatedly, including his own Hyperion which he never closed.

but that was post insanity. In his youth he obviously read a lot of Kant, Plato, Sophocles, Pindar, Homer etc.

Beginning of Jan for me. I'm an aspiring author but realized that only fantasy shit makes it these days. So I've been reading Fellowship of the Ring. It's been brilliant so far but it's tasking. Mostly because I don't care about fantasy and Tolkien is dense. But goddamn I'll give JRR one thing, the world he created is interesting and feels mythological. When you watch the films it feels cool and all but you don't get that biblical or mythological feel.

You're clearly just unfocused or busy.

Don't label periods of time when you're not even reading as poor reading, you're just not reading at all.
