Assuming its ariel, its some violent, autobiographical, depressing, potentially triggering poetry. I can't tell you if you'll like it but i can guarantee 2 things. 1- you will have a visceral emotional reaction to many of the poems 2- you will not understand what shes talking about at least half the time.
Personally, i love her poetry but its hard to read whole collections because the level of dread increases with every poem you make it through. Just don't sweat not getting it and focus on the beauty and often times the terror of the language. Also check out her wikipedia bio

I think they're different things. Death and co, lady lazarus/daddy, a birthday present is probably the most morbid and uncomfortable to read are pretty dread inducing, but when you read one after another of those poems it really starts to weigh on you. Especially the carbon monoxide references.
For her most powerful poems from only ariel i'd say words, berck-plage, fever 103degrees, getting there, you're, and elm.
I don't think ariel is her best collection though, the colossus is altogether more even and formally impressive.
