Is this what the average /lit/ meetup would be like? Losers trying to one-up each other with obscure authors?

>> No.17737774

Yes, and if you can't handle it you should simply kill yourself.

>> No.17737790

>>17737766
Yes because the well adjusted people who use /lit/ wouldn’t go to a /lit/ meetup because they’re well adjusted. You would only get the extreme autists and grifting narcissists.

Seems like meetups violate the anonymity of 4chan kinda like tripfags are treated with contempt.

I made a few good friends at /cgl/ meet ups years ago.

I'd assume /lit/ meetups would be different in that everyone is an autistic sperg and doesn't know how to socialize or partake in actual conversation that flows smoothly amongst a larger group, seeing as everyone's a stranger. I've seen the photos of past meet ups here and what amounts to flash fiction confirming the level of tisum exuberated from its participants. A lengthy snarky post would translate to someone blowing air from their nose in a slightly annoyed fashion. Plus, given the fact no one here actually reads the whole thing would really just be /soc/.

I’d meet up with some /lit/ bros but I fear there aren’t many Britbongs here. Plus the boozers aren’t open yet and we’d have to get a few pints in before getting into the brass tacks of literature

yes, probably. The more normal people know to avoid 4chan meetups, so the only people who do attend are even weirder than the average poster, which is already pretty weird

The last time I did a 4meetup, 1 showed. So naturally, we spent the entire evening arguing who was the government agent, it was undoubtedly him, before getting wasted and ranting about the most frightening absolute states that persist in our geographic area

Daily reminder that "meet-ups" are an absolute subversion of what sites like this represented and normies such as the guy from the tweet, as well as any other normies that participated in the event, are trash.

As much as I appreciate trips i'm not convinced we need another thread on another board. Maybe once a week like on /biz/

>> No.17738724

I went to one in New York a few years ago. There was one guy that had one of those three ring binders with “Muh Memes” scrawled across the front cover. He had printed up screen shots in the binder that he claimed were proof that he had invented the Corncob McCarthye meme and the Anna Karenina copypasta.

Another guy only wanted to discuss Atlas Shrugged but nobody else had read it and he stormed out in a huff saying ‘typical /lit/“. Somebody tried discussing Anthem with him but he wasn’t having it

There was another guy who never made eye contact with anybody and if anybody asked him his name he would only say “just call Anon”

I went to one yeeears ago. It was literally just five goofballs, two of which were over-boisterous to cover their fears, the others, myself included, were quiet and unsure what to say, how to act, and how much to reveal about themselves. There were some attempts at talking about books, but they were short-lived because no one really wanted to commit to liking anything and the discussion just devolved into referencing a meme about whatever was being mentioned and then everyone would sip their coffee without tasting it.

I'd disagree. Once you get shameless with your autism things can actually get pretty fun.
