Are there any actual methods by which you can improve your mentality and in a self-directed fashion, work through your traumas?
I am someone who struggles to cope with smoking weed for instance, after a few years of smoking it many subsconcious thoughts came to mind and I found myself struggling to cope with them. My flaws were laid bare. To this day, I struggle to smoke weed.
In other words, is there a way to communicate with and befriend my anima? Or is it a wasteful and even insulting effort to aim for that?

I had more or less the same experience when I first smoked weed. Smoked fairly regularly, hyper focussed on my flaws, then had to quit. This was when I was a teenager. Around my mid-twenties I started to find that I could just smoke and relax/laugh/enjoy art.

Keep a journal. Write down your traumas, how they make you feel, how they make you act, how you wish to act instead. Cry it out my guy

i recommend a mixture of consistent meditation practice, mainly concentrative (concentration naturally brings out and purifies trauma held in both the mind and body), TRE exercises, journaling, actual therapy, spending a lot more time in nature, physical activity (especially of an improvisational nature, such as dancing), and lastly, though I would do a ton of research into it first, psychedelic drugs. start to unplug from unwholesome influences too; bad friends, internet, media, pornography etc. - one of the ways trauma gets stuck is through overly stimulating yourself and not giving yourself space to go through your natural processes, your body is very intelligent, if you let it do its thing

really you should do a mixture of all these, and you want these release valves to be continuous in your life, rather than building up trauma over a long period of time and then trying to release the mess all at once

Meditation helps immensely as a method of taming your thinking mid. It sounds like you're struggling with the thoughts that flood your mind. What meditation is is a practical technique of staying detached from thoughts, letting them float by, and simply maintaining awareness of them.

By doing that I've found that I've been better able to "be on the same side" as my anima. Otherwise thoughts and traumas tend to overwhelm and swallow up everything else
