I have about 20 lineal feet of shelves filled with unread books. no idea how many, at least 300. I am ok with that, keep reading them and keep adding new ones. Nice to have a good selection of unread books to browse.

Why is pic realted a suicidal wojak? Why does it stress you out that you have so many unread books? As long as you keep reading you can easly finish all of them and then some.

Unread books are a blessing. You can go read them. Even if you dont read all of em. no same person cares if you have books that you havent been able to read yet. Just read em

All wojaks are suicide wojaks, some wojaks just hide it better than others.

Good, then you have 50 more books to read at a minimum. Enjoy that.

>> No.17718456

You can, if you wish, see it less as a for-reference collection of works you've absorbed and appreciate and more like a literal private library, a repository of potential knowledge.

Owning unread books is not necessarily a bad thing. Still, I think one should endeavor to read as much of those unreads as one reasonably can.

I have like 30 books unread in my shelf. But if I were to count my parent's books, which I can take any time, it would be like 1,000. Most of those are uninteresting or very specialized though.

>> No.17718639

>>17718456
I think the problem is more spending money just on potential reads. Ideally you should be buying books that you actually want to (and thus WILL) read, so it's not just a waste of money. Maybe if you're rich you can afford to just pile up random books you're not particularly interested in.

Yes, that's a valid concern, I'll agree. But also a very individual one, I feel, being totally dependent on personal financial situation and interests. Not something I can really discuss with only the context given by OP.

>being totally dependent on personal financial situation and interests.
It sounds like OP has a problem with spending on things he doesn't want, regardless of his particular financial situation.

You are a mindless consumer. Same with all of the rest of these shelf posting fags. Might as well fill your book shelves with funko pops.

the simple solution is to put yourself on a strict buying freeze until you've read everything you own. i did this once and it took almost two years to work through the backlog but it was totally worth it.

the more radical konmari option is to just get rid of every book you haven't read today. the correct time to read a book is when you first encountered it. unread books are books not being treated properly, and you shouldn't abuse your things. if later it turns out your really wanted to read one of the books you get rid of, just buy it again. now you'll know how important it was to you
