Any books that deconstruct such idiocy?

>Of all these, the Belgae are the bravest, because they are furthest from the civilization and refinement of [our] Province, and merchants least frequently resort to them, and import those things which tend to effeminate the spirit

He's not criticising comfort. He criticises people who's entire aim in life is to be comfortable i.e. nothing else matters except doing nothing.

Do you really need a book to tell you that the things that are most fulfilling in life are challenging and require you to not be comfortable?

Why is it that comfort is so fucking nice bros? Every time I go for a walk or exercise in the morning I am nearly always glad for the effort even if it's hard, but when I wake up it's as if my brain does its utmost to let me forget that fact, even though it would work wonders? It's like I have to learn it anew every day, not intellectually, but experientially.

>What the English call “comfortable” is something endless and inexhaustible. Every condition of comfort reveals in turn its discomfort, and these discoveries go on for ever. Hence the new want is not so much a want of those who have it directly, but is created by those who hope to make profit from it.

It all boils down to short-term vs long-term gratification. The undisciplined mind will always gravitate to the path of least resistance to get its dopamine, even if that path is destructive in the long-term.

The right amount of disconfort is that which you can heal and grow from, the right amount of confort is that which helps you heal and grow.

Health is an underrated element of Nietzsche's outlook.

What more do you need other than common sense? I'm uncomfortable sleeping out in the rain, i build a shelter that brings me enough comfort to rest. Anyone that states all creature comforts are bad is completely delusional.
