This game has some pretty blatant Buddhist symbolism. The tree on the moon is a Boddhi tree(very blatant), Majora is a rewriting of Mara that makes a lot of sense to a Japanese tongue. And the spinning wheels in transformation cutscenes and the clocktower and the 'elegy of emptiness' or sunyatta.
