For Poland start with Kochanowski and Sienkiewicz. First one is renaissance poetry, second is essential historical epic.
If you can find a translation of it I would also recommend 'Stara Baśn' ('The Old Tale') by Kraszewski as it is one of the best descriptions of the nature of this place.

This is true. With the exception of Russian and Polish most of the literature from Slavic countries remains untranslated or hard to find.
My country has a lot of gems but they will never be available to foreigners. I imagine it's the same with a lot of smaller languages.

Marlowe just wasn't that good. He is nowhere near the level of the best literature of the time (Shakespeare, Cervantes, Calderon). Slavic culture is much younger than western culture so you are not being terribly fair by asking for a direct chronological comparison, especially given that initial literary expression in the Slavic world was through folklore (and indeed, some of our fairy tales, legends, and myths completely BTFO Marlowe's stories). In my land this was due to the influence of baltic Paganism taking the role of what Homer was to the classical man. If you compare XVI century slavic literature to that of the west, compare it to Beowulf, Song of Roland and the like... Also, read Spengler.

Slavic XVI century literature is mostly Christian in inspiration, and imitates preexisting western models. It is not comparable to Beowulf in any way.
As for folk stories, they are mostly lost. And were never synthesized in a singular opus, as with Homer. Shame, but it is as it is
