Thank you Spinoza for teaching me how to have unlimited motivation, you beautiful jew

Life is a moment, the present. Your actions are predetermined, your intentions are your own free will.

Yeah, Spinoza is good.

If you feel lazy then you obviously do not consider it as necessary, because if you did you wouldn't feel lazy Q.E.D

why? laziness and necessity do not contradict each other

>> No.17641668

>>17641652
yes they do
If someone pointed a gun at you and asked you for money, would you be lazy to give them? Of course not

>> No.17641708

>>17641668
you're conflating the meeting of laziness and external necessity with the necessity of laziness itself. There are no contradictions between those two anyway. You can feel the necessity to be lazy, just like your laziness can be overcome by external necessity.

Oh yeah you're correct, well then you must bring a bigger and contrary emotion to that lazyness to remove it, and regard that emotion as necessary. Thats what I do when I feel lazy

I like this way of thinking, forming greater forces, making big commitments help overcoming melancholy. Then its not something that is an expression of hidden character, but something maleable

How would one go about it tough?

>> No.17642025

Various philosophers following Spinoza gave different answers to this problem. Spinoza himself believed in the power of reason, so if you follow his line, you should use your reason and enquire into the causes that subordinate you and make you lazy. Reason can overcome emotions. Nietzsche would probably advocate an approach more focused on the body like diet, physical activity etc. Deleuze would root for experimentation, changing up things, combining them into new formations that work in unexpected ways etc. As simple thing as changing your posture or the chair you are sitting on can produce big effects. I find myself combining insights of all of these approaches.

If regarding something as necessary is a precondition for said event's necessity then it isn't ultimately so, and regarding is as such is committing to an erroneous worldview. It's both logically and functionally deluding yourself.
