I regret not choosing a literary career.

>> No.17617767

Same, if you're talking about the academic route (you can't take up a 'career' in writing; art is not a career, it's subsequent creation)
Everyone is talking about how unprofitable it is,
but if I could rent a small apartment I'd be happy.

Not OP but about to graduate with a CS undergrad, I used to hate it and want to switch because of the annoying startup culture and tedious work, with industry standards constantly shifting

If you can take a good student loan with a long repayment term, take it. Depends on the interest rate, but some student loans are 0% interest, in which case an 11 year repayment is the minimum. Basically, you can take out student loans and put them into high dividend cryptocurrency savings account and pools, spending as little money as possible by living with your parents. The safest option is Binance's savings pools, in which you can get 7% annual percentage return on stable US Dollar coins, effectively you can double your money in 10.5 years, meaning you can repay the loan and keep the same amount you originally borrowed. You want to scale this up to 400k in savings/loans, at which point you can earn 28k a year with no effort. However, student loans won't get you all the way to 400k, and a decade is a long time to wait. Therefore, you can take small amounts of risk for more rewards. Cryptocurrency yield farming pools on services like Goose finance, Pancake swap syrup pools, and Pancake Bunny, can get you anywhere from 60% to 400% annual percentage return on US Dollar stable coins, increased by regular compounding of earnings. The catch? Your rewards are paid out in non-stable coins, so you have to cash them ASAP if you don't want to be exposed to risk, and there's always the small possibility of getting rugged (but really, it's fairly easy nowadays to gauge the trustworthiness of these crypto projects through code audits and looking at token lock ups).

I know it all sounds sketchy as fuck, it's wise to be skeptical of something that suggests you can get 4x your money in a year on depositing USD, but these things are real and proven technology. Personally I've made 50% of my savings in three days just from liquidity pool mining. I can go into clearer detail if you want, otherwise lurk /biz/ for a while and look into BSC liquidity pools

Max your IRA every single year, invest it into ETFs with good dividends. Have a "safe" fund where you invest in successful main market picks. Have a smaller "yolo" fund that you use to follpw your gut and make risky plays though still based on lot's of research.

Work as a freelance accountant on the side doing peoples taxes. Get an insider job somewhere on the east coast of the US. Don't get caught insider trading, don't say any racist shit anywhere you can be heard or online, don't hook up with any drunk/dumb/young chicks (or any combination of the three)

You don't choose "literary career". You either write or not.

Live WAY below your means. Cook meals at home, buy certain things in bulk, don't obsess over expensive interests/hobbies (no guns or magic cards for you), drive an old honda or motorcycle (and know how to work on it), until you can afford electric. Doordash on the side, sell all your old shit, quit your vices

I just want to write for some publication, I just want to write reviews on books or talk about culture but you can't be published fucking anywhere if you're not sucking the editors cock, I don't even care about being paid.
