Is this the best book about human history?

>> No.17605335

>>17605311
Yes, polymath intelectual Piero Scaruffi (pbuh) recommends it.

It's fucking trash. Read some Cassirer.

Yeah it’s great.

It's good. Maybe the first good "NYT best seller" book and I'm not sure how to feel about this. I don't want masses of people to be too redpilled all of a sudden.

Can I read his stuff as a layman or do I need some prior knowledge of history and philosophy and shit?

>> No.17605619

>>17605584
No. It's a straightforward read. Only 'skill' you'd need is to bear in mind that a lot of what he's saying is theory and conjecture.

shameless self shill, nice one Piero but your not fooling us...

>> No.17605860

It's good except for his crappy essay about how hunter-gatherers lived better lives than people did after the agricultural revolution, that part is one big confirmation bias

I haven't been on /mu/ for years, now. But I can't help the urge to mention the fact that so many books still name the Beatles as "the greatest or most significant or most influential" rock band ever only tells you how far rock music still is from becoming a serious art. Jazz critics have long recognized that the greatest jazz musicians of all times are Duke Ellington and John Coltrane, who were not the most famous or richest or best sellers of their times, let alone of all times. Classical critics rank the highly controversial Beethoven over classical musicians who were highly popular in courts around Europe. Rock critics, instead, are still blinded by commercial success. The Beatles sold more than anyone else (not true, by the way), therefore they must have been the greatest. Jazz critics grow up listening to a lot of jazz music of the past, classical critics grow up listening to a lot of classical music of the past. Rock critics are often totally ignorant of the rock music of the past, they barely know the best sellers.

There is at least one instance of jewish subversiveness in this book, and it already spawned a myth I sometimes come across on twitter:

Its a nice little book. Achieves the task it sets out to do. People who criticize it for not being nuanced enough are high on their own farts and try to appear superior at all cost.

It is good light reading. I wouldn’t consider it “history” though.
