I just finished it and read the very last passage Inna few translations to compare. I read the book with P&V but they all seem fine. It's hard to compare really. But, I've already read other dosto books with P&V so I just stick with them to keep a similar style.

P&V is the academic standard. Most Slavic scholars and Russian speakers prefer them for the sole reason that they stay truest to the original Russian. Believe it or not but translation is a field of study that gets better over time, and Garnett is simply outdated.
