For many of us this place has become a bad habit, so:

Post the title of your current reading, the last 2 digits are the pages you NOW have to read. Post again when you've done.

Up to chapter nine now. Hammett's writing is extremely restrained. He takes "show, don't tell" very seriously. Up to this point, he has never once revealed through prose what his characters are thinking. He merely describes; he does not tell what his characters are thinking or feeling unless they express it in dialogue. Even Spade's thought are never made explicit. It's a very different experience compared to Raymond Chandler. Cool book so far.

I think it's the internet overall, maybe me -- and I believe that of a lot of others -- work ethic : of working a lot, loading up the plate, having very high aspirations, but being hindered by the classic : I've done enough ; by social circles ; by drinking or other drugs -- in those social circles or alone ; further most by the internet and the perfect media it represents : as a game which never ends, an infinite discussion, and so on.
I will still read last digits though and add it to my daily 100 pages anyways. I feel consistency is key but there is so little time and some projects you -- we -- I formulate are so massive and great it is easy to just give up and say : well I've done enough for today, even if you worked a lot, and also when you didn't. Consistency is really fucking hard.
Current read : everything -- that's the issue.
