The pest house by Jim crace is a bit like McCarthy. Not as good as McCarthy but still good.

As mentioned above, canticle for lebowitz is fantastic.

Ridley Walker by Russell hoban is real good. Society has fallen apart so badly that language has even disintegrated.

He's a bit of a dick, but will self's book of Dave is excellent.

The first book or two of Atwood's macaddam trilogy are great. Third one is shit.

Blindness by jose saramango is fantastic.

Kind of. But probably not what you’re expecting. At least that was my experience. Second half goes in a strange direction. Same with Call of the Cherokee. More Biblical Apocalypse type stuff.

On The Beach and Alas Babylon are both better than The Road, easily.
The Last Ship is okay but turns into just smut 2/3 of the way through.
Turner Diaries is cringe all the way through.
