Busy people of /lit/, is it better to spend your free time reading literature and philosophy or learning languages if you only have time to really do one?

Life is long enough to do both.

if you have free time for 4chan, you have plenty of time for both of them.

Why do you have time for only one? Go NEET if you don't want to waste your precious lifetime.

Excuse me, but I presented you with a false dichotomy and so you must choose one.

Obviously reading is better if you can only do one. Not much fun in learning a language if you don’t read stuff in it.

If you learn a language you do both of the things you posted.

>> No.17544273

You can learn a language, an instrument and still find an hour or two to read if you're like me

I'm not busy, but depends, anon. And you can learn a language studying philosophy and literature. If you really want to choose one, definitely literature and philosophy.

I am doing both at the moment and neglecting both
Its difficult to learn another language that has very little quantity of media that actually interests you
Im german and want to learn spanish, what i did was buy books in spanish that i know in german and i re-read them. This has its limitations, as its not as interesting and a translator may have his own interpretations of a text than you and would use different sentences/terms, but it is working nontheless

Learning a new language allows you to talk to people speaking that language.

There is no way you don't have 30 minutes or an hour each day free to learn a language. If you are going to learn a language don't make it something you choose to do randomly here and there. It has to become a habit. Everyday for the next 5 years. At least 30 minutes.
