How many of you mostly read pdfs off your laptops rather than reading physical books?

I can't read books this way. After some minutes I realize I'm just skimming through the text rather than absorbing its information. I read maybe 1 full book this way.

I like to have a pdf version and a physical one. Sometimes I wanna read in the dark and sometimes I want to grip a real book it just depends how I'm feeling.

i sample books on my laptop but reading a whole novel this way isn't appealing. seems like work.

reading epubs on a ipad where you change the colors so its gray text on a black background and u just shut off all the lights and read in the dark is comfy af it reminds me of being a kid and trying to read pulp fantasy novels in the light of the led on my alarm clock at night which was kind of dumb since there was a street light outside my window that would have been brighter if i had just opened the drapes.

bad for my posture, bad for my spine, bad for my eyes

to answer your question, no, i do not read books from an electronic device

how is it bad for your posture spine and eyes? how is it any worse than physical books?

I do both, depending on availability.
Ebooks are practical when I look at stuff like poorly stocked libraries, bookstores with mostly modern trash, ordering not possible at the moment due to covid and poorly organized post company, and frankly I would feel rather stupid if I bought a book I was going to read just once.

I read some on my phone since the libraries are closed, but I don’t really like it.

I used to hate reading on a laptop or my kindle, but since all the studies for my phd are unavaible in physical format, I've been reading on the laptop for a while now.
I like the kidle too, but highlights and notes don't transfer with the files (or am I moron?), so I prefer reading on the computer.

i like reading pdfs on big ass monitors where you can have the pages open way huge like a one of those giant art books you buy in the gift shop at the met, but it's just a regular book

I did. Now I have money to buy paperbacks.

Me. Why would I pay for a physical copy when I could get it for free? Also books are heavily taxed where I live so it's not worth it.

Would only ever do that if the PDF doesn't properly display on my Kobo.

I might start doing it, because I’ll be starting grad school soon and it’ll be simpler just to have everything on my laptop.

Can't bear to read long text (like, book-length) on a laptop, i get severe eyestrain, something about the distance. I used to read a lot of epubs on my phone but nowadays I prefer physical books or audiobooks.

I do that, did this with a lot of textbooks.

I find reading this way I tend to absorb the information less but I have read through easy reading sorta books and comics this way but I read mostly on my phone with this epub reader called lithium and it's perfect. I can understand why someone would prefer reading pdfs on their pc though especially if their phone is smaller.

Me. I am broke and my family is in severe financial crisis so I tend to download books every now and then. Buying book takes a lot of effort to take care of it, much easier to just digitize the book so it can preserve much longer.

I do desire reading physical books, and one of the ways I do is to find and visit a library. I can't go to there though, because I'm too scared to drive, even though I had someone to teach me how to drive.
