He strolled on the precariously curved rails, high above the Citopolis, the wand in his right hand, tapping along the steps. Reaching the end of it the view stretched across this desolate city. To the left of him, far in the distance, a skeleton of great ship, planet destroyed class, a remnant of the Great War, that almost brought us to destruction. "What still powers it, I can't say", he muttered, thinking about the technology that was brought upon by the war, but is now beyond reach.

Over fifty million inhabitants, most of them not of this world. I am not speaking of otherworld visitors, instead natives to this land, but present only in body, and bodily excretions. They have long ago given up on their earthly vessels that once carried their ancestors across vast planes and instead joined up in the Great Link. An makeshift world, a simulacra of this one, their mind drifting aimlessly in it. Talking with other lost souls about current things, as if they were a part of the happenings.

Left alone to guard them all, a function he choose for himself, the only one willing. What madness drove him to such a role? He couldn't say. Perhaps vanity, ego, sense of duty? Bah, nothing of the sort. He was just afraid to join the Link.
