You're exaggerating it, there's always been the crass and stupid words in cultures, even if ours are a little worse given their nigger origin. But that said, our language is drastically deteriorating, not in the sense of just a constant angle down for some time now, but that we have a far worse language culture than before. As Pound said the artist is the antenna of a people, and Rome rose with Virgil and Ovid, and declined with the politicians talk (of course he put it a lot better than me), and a people's language lives by its artist. We have no conceivable meaningful writer around us today, that is why we can see our language declining, but who knows when it might go up again.

good lord people have been bemoaning this idiotic point for centuries at this point. slang comes and goes. when's the last time you heard someone refer to something as "on fleek?" these kinds of terms don't even replace 'normal' words really. like what does the term "chile" really replace or displace in language? it's not really replacing the term "child" because that's not the context of the slang, it's simply a way of addressing someone when you have some shit to say or as an exclamatory.

even if shit like this did consistently and functionally replace older words, what is being lost? it's not functionality. so what are you whining about?
