What's a good general intro to philosophy? I don't expect to get a full history of its ins and outs, I would just like something that allows me to choose and guide my path.

I study finance but have some friends in the phil department that have been reading pic related, I've tried to check it out but feel I need more knowledge to understand it.

The Atlas of reality is a really good intro to Metaphysics. It is biased since its written from a Thomist perspective but there is no completely neutral point of view, and it does a good job treating different position relatively fairly.
Stay away from contemporary continental philosophy.
