as long as wordsworth's goes, that cover isn't half bad.

Trips of truth. I own their complete Dostoevsky because they use the Garnett translation.

garnett is so fuckin based

I read p&v's idiot out of curiosity and it still almost made me cry desu
I will reread a garnett translation whenever the time comes to reread that one

I unironically love every Wordsworth cover and I am glad they're doing something different than the generic tangentially related classical painting or abstract minimalist shapes.

>author well-known for fleshed out characters of 19th century Russia
>covers showing modernist stick figures reeking of 20th century
miss me with that

Obsessing over the cover and not the contents is the most /lit/ thing I can think of. Really missing the meal for the menu.

Because it's fucking absurd and comedic. Find me another non-Wordsworth book cover that even comes close to being that hilarious and cheesy. For £2.50 I'm buying them all just for the laughs.

the cover is less important than the text, but it's an issue for several reasons. if I pay for a book I may expect to be given the option not having to look at a dog-shit cover everytime before I open it.

Ive only read p&v but I got a garnett translation of crime and punishment. Whats different about it? The dialogue feels stilted but the endnotes are nice in p&v, especially in Demons since he namedrops a bunch of people who are pretty much unknown nowadays

I've heard nothing but universal praise for P&V's translations and heard many negative things about Garnett's. Is this just /lit/ being contrarian again?
