>read all my life stuff like lolita and it doesn't even phase me but actually excites me
>finally get a gf
>she tells me of her sexual abuse
>now I can't even think of the book without tearing up.

So if I killed a man, would that make a book like Crime and Punishment unreadable?

So does this mean that books are just a cope for inexperience? Since if you had the experience you would not want to read about it?

Probably yes, your guilty conscience would make you seethe at the book, in the same way homosexuals seethe at the mere mention of The Bible.

On the contrary. I found C&P especially compelling because I had experienced the reality of guilt before.

Not really no. Everyone has different reactions.

Think of it as a negative and positive

Most books, are made to be fantasized. Like romance(positive), but. If you do experience something like that, then you will want to broaden your horizons. Romance books helps with that. Some married couples like to talk about what each other has done, etc. Like for example-
"We fished yesterday" or some shit. Take it as an experience sort of thing. Let's be honest here, relationships can become stale. I cannot stress it enough. And seeing other's experience in it can perhaps help with coping.

While this anon here, has a girlfriend that has more or less experienced sexual abuse, thus any medium, not just books, can atleast, cause a feeling of discomfort. Because well, experiencing negative things first hand, unless your comepletely fucking desensitized, is pretty harsh. Anon's girlfriend probably opened up to him, seeing his girlfriend cry as she talks about abuse will obviously pluck one's heartstrings. And getting reminded of that abuse via books will of course, make him feel that way again.

That's not why she feels uncomfortable, that's just the story she tells you, and probably also herself
