According to Diotima in the Symposium, the Good is that which Eros desires ultimately, and the Beautiful seems to be Nature's contrivance for pointing us toward the Good.

This gets messy in other dialogues tho, like in Phaedrus and Gorgias, where sometimes the one appears as a part of the other.
