Could someone explain to me as a Muslim, what exactly Ivan's argument is in The Grand Inquisitor against God?

>children suffer
Yes, because He wills it
>Men need total dominion
Yes, they need to submit to Allah instead of their nafs but continue to be stubborn

What does he even prove? That Christians, like Jews, would persecute and hate a prophet coming? We know they hate Muhammad ﷺ but when Jesus returns we expect unlike Jews they will be receptive

I think the Orthodox refutation of the argument from suffering is different from the Muslim one, but Dostoyevsky himself also believed that Ivan's arguments were flawed. Ivan's rationality is destroyed by the end of the BK.

It's a strawman as anon says. Someone who has been indoctrinated into religion can't comprehend existence without it. It's a sad fact that most people are simply trapped in the mindset they were born and raised into

There is a rise in OPs who shoehorn the fact that they're Muslim into the thread. Is it just one guy who feels compelled to always mention he's a Muslim? Why?

Most likely. I don’t know why, but there’s tons of Muslims on /lit/, /his/, and to a lesser extent, /pol/.

Hear me out, but maybe there are just a lot of Muslims in general.

Maybe I just don't want to believe so many people have the same bad taste. Maybe I should find a way to mention I'm Catholic in every thread I make. Could be sort of an interesting creative project come to think of it.

I brought if up because maybe it's a difference in Christian mindset
