Poll: Do you play videogames?
What genres do you mainly read?

>> No.1735560

Re-do this thread with more in-depth questions. Ask what genres of video games and consoles, ask the frequency of their reading in addition to the genre, ask the last few books read, stuff like that. Otherwise this will get boring fast.

I don't play very many video games - no more than casually. Mostly either old video games from my childhood, or flash games to kill time. I read all genres. I have read a shit ton of science fiction and fantasy, though.

This is what I like. People who read sci-fi and fantasy without playing vidya much. It's a fresh change.

I play video games pretty often. Favorite genres are RPGs, shmups, rhythm stuff like DDR, and a little racing and FPS now and then. I mostly play on the 360, with some PS2 and DS occasionally. Don't own a decent gaming PC yet.

For reading, I guess I read mostly classics. I'm mostly focused on Japanese literature right now, but I'm also interested in Russian and Latin American lit. I'm pretty fond of short stories and novellas, and I'm getting a little more appreciative of poetry. I usually read at least one book a week.

PC gamer or console?

>> No.1735626

Yes. Mostly silly RPGs and the occasional platformer.

I read a lot of dramatic literature (i.e. plays), always much Shakespeare, and lately, 20th century European avant-garde theatre. I dig a lot of contemporary Canadian fiction, but not when it's too stuck in realism.
I'm starting to dig philosophical literature; I don't mind didactic stuff as long as the language is eloquent.
I've also been reading a lot of other nonfiction, especially Carl Sagan.

What being a much more important freshness is people who play video game and read good books that are not sci fi and fantasy.
