Got one basic kindle 10th gen for Christmas, battery lasts only between 4-7 days, I tried updating firmware, leaving plane mode on at all times, hard reset, checking for stuck indexing, nothing works and never using the backlight. God dammit, I just wanted to "read for weeks with a single battery charge"™

I mean, if you read 6 hours a day it's not going to last that much.
You could lower the screen brightness (I can read perfectly fine in a dark room with the 4th or 5th setting from the bottom).
And if you just got it and uploaded a bunch of ebooks (like 400 of them) it could be indexing them which drains battery life.

I bought an Oasis recently and I'm actually very happy with it. An improvement from Kobo, for sure.

Only flaw is its battery life.

>> No.17344339

>>17344178
it drains from ~90% to 0% in about 6 days of not using it at all, and when I use it; I do it without backlight (wifi turned off, no indexing).

Mine is a 4th gen and lasts around a week of 'heavy usage,' but it uses an old firmware version. This is probably some bs Amazon invented, anon. The battery takes more than a month to drain itself if I don't use it.

Ine charge can last you a week that’s pretty good anon like what else do you want lol

If it gets low just plug it in one night when you sleep and you’re good to go

isnt it supposed to last for weeks if I'm not using it at all?

Literally how?
I got a 1st or 2nd gen Paperwhite that's almost TEN years old and a single charge still holds long enough to read at least 4 600 page long books with some remaining charge to spare.

Seems like the Oasis' battery has 300 mah less than my Paperwhite so that could be it.
I don't know if it comes with bluetooth off by default but try disabling it. And indexing can be underestimated. It can take days to index just a couple long books at least on my old PW (I can only tell because it doesn't let me search words inside it).
