What is the difference between “Traditionalism” and “Conservatism”? It seems conservatives move the goal posts every few years and traditionalists remain fixed? Someone explain pls

Traditionalism is simply to value previously established values, customs, and beliefs. Of course it depends on what belief system one is talking about. Conservatism is just the practical ideology of installing traditionalism. For example, most American Conservatives want to conserve some form of classical liberalism that the founders established. One could say that this example is a form of traditionalism. Let's say Traditional Americanism.

Most people say that traditionalists just want to remain in the past for no reason and it's a LARP. I agree that being traditional for the sake of being traditional is not valuable at all. It would be like saying that being a caveman would be the greatest good. Of course this is not what traditionalists believe. One has to assign a particular place in time they would want to conserve. In this instance De Maistre would like to preserve the traditions (things established in the past) of hierarchical order. Traditionalism is therefore an arbitrary word without a qualifier. There must be a belief or point in time that is assigned with the word traditionalism, e.g Traditional Catholic, or else it means nothing at all.
