What's the longest book you've read?
Mine's the King James Bible coming in at a whopping 783,137 words.

Word? That's surprising smaller that I would've thought, although it's not something I've paid attention to before.

Honestly, what is the technical purpose of books like the one in your pic? Are they only ever made by bookbinders as a gag? Even if it was some huge dictionary or technical encyclopedia, it could just as easily be bound in volumes. I don't get it.

The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich

It was good.

In retrospect it feels odd: the estimated word count of JAHB is like 375k words, but it feels longer. Word count is a poor representation anyway, I'm sure, unless the omit counting 2-4 letter "words", and as I recall the Bible is very rich in short speech. Not to mention the fact very few people would read Numbers, Levit, Deuteronomy, Chronicles.

In any event, whereas I have read the Bible, I still consider JAHB the longest book I've read depite it being a couple of hundred pages shorter.

Page wise?

Word count isn't everything; the Bible in particular frequently uses very short words.

Mine was definitely Herbet's Poor Fellow My Country.
