How do I cope with the fact that I forget 80-90% of a book's content mere months after finishing it?

* When you read, pay attention. Don't do anything else. Don't have distractions.
* When you read, care. (As Bruce said, 'we need emotional content'. You remember things much better when your emotions are engaged.)
* Get enough sleep and exercise.
* Stop drinking and taking drugs.

Log what you think about it. Goodreads is an obvious place.

That series is by a fraud and a miscreant. F. Gardner has stolen my life's work and peddles it as his own while I refine the true Horror's Call series manuscript.

This. The kraut who discovered that Troy was a factual place learned many languages by reading and rereading novels in the original and in translation.

Can you give an example?

What parts are you forgetting? Character names? Storylines? Plots? Setting?

This. It's actually nice to re-read a book because you rediscover some things about the text.
