I haven't read it but it's where the phrase "day of the rope" comes from so I'm guessing that's why.

Kek mortar shelling the Capitol. Though the Turner boogaloo was a complete failure—things only get real when a portion of the military secede from the feds and start an all out war. Partisans aren’t going to do anything—the jaded and fed-up military folks will. That’s a real coup book was lol sometimes but that was really it

Not really. The only thing a normie has to deal with is in the first chapter or two, which is the idea of killing an "innocent" for the struggle. After you accept that war is war and it's what we gotta do, then the rest is just an escalation of conflicts.

Basically, if you can stomach the part where Earl and Henry need gas money, you are golden. Here's what happens:

>They need money to fuel their trips to get supplies and equipment to their brethren, so they knock over a liquor store and kill the black that runs it because he is black. Then for good measure go to a kosher deli down the street and lure the guy out from behind the counter, smash him with your knife's heel and slash his throat. His wife comes screaming out from the back so one of them smashes her with a jar of kosher pickles (I shit you not) and stabs her. They grab the cash and flee and say it was for the greater good.

If you can do that without flinching you will be fine with it.

As a work of fiction it's thin and borderline masturbatory but that was never the point; its real purpose is to serve as an ideological primer and collection of hints and tips for conducting an armed uprising.

The reason that that happened in the first place was because the Organization had a significant presence within the military, including at the command levels. That was not an accident or incidental, it was a cultivated effort that came to fruition. It should also be mentioned that the situation only reached the tipping point that it did BECAUSE of the actions of the Organization. This was a pretty significant point of of the book that dovetails with Turner's reflection on their evolution of strategy - their earlier strategy of minor, willy-nilly attacks didn't get much done from a practical standpoint but it made sure that the public knew what they were about and precluded the possibility of their agenda from being distorted by the government. This is crucial to their eventual success and reflected on several times throughout the book.
