Poetry is far superior to works of fiction especially in the contemporary world where good fiction is scattered and far between while poetry is flourishing.

Fiction drops off tremendously after Modernism. After the 1960's there are probably maybe 10 books I can name that are half-decent.

If you think Rupi Kaur is the only remotely popular "poet" you are very disillusioned and just as informed as the Instagram thots that you despise. Seriously if you can't come up with any names other than Rupi Kaur I honestly feel bad for you.
