Poetry is far superior to works of fiction especially in the contemporary world where good fiction is scattered and far between while poetry is flourishing.

Fiction drops off tremendously after Modernism. After the 1960's there are probably maybe 10 books I can name that are half-decent.

Poetry is dead, at least in English. So is Rumi.

>> No.17257295

Poetry is not flourishing. The only "poets" that are popular now are inane instagram thots like Rupi Kaur.

Poets were always thots. Theres a reason Syphilis was called the poets disease.

Do you read poetry? Contemporary poetry? What do you think of free verse?

At least they weren't oversocialized w*men

>Poetry is dead
>Poetry is not flourishing
If you think Rupi Kaur is the only remotely popular "poet" you are very disillusioned and just as informed as the Instagram thots that you despise. Seriously if you can't come up with any names other than Rupi Kaur I honestly feel bad for you.

ALL POETRY IS FICTION.

And if you think there are only 10 half-decent books since 1960 then...

It’s the exact same premise

I don't think, I know there are only 10 half-decent books since the 1960s and I was being generous.

Why do you insist on being such a low-quality poster? It's embarrassing.

Well, most people couldn’t name a single decent poet since Pound so..I’m really not seeing your point.

>> No.17257353

Exactly the point. Gone are the days when poets were treated as celebrities, good poets are now obscure intellectuals no one knows about and the only popular ones write woke non-poetry about their vaginas.
