So, I recently finished reading The name of the rose in italian and enjoyed it greatly.

Given the large use of latin citations and the "Babel" language used by Salvatore I am now curious as to how these linguistic peculiarities were rendered in the english translation.
Salvatore speaks a mixture of italian, latin and spanish and is somewhat comprehensible due to the common roots shared by these romance languages. How the english translator dealt with it?
Also, are the latin references kept or translated?
