Finnish library institution is pretty pog and probably the only reason Finnish literature exists in some form.

In the capital area all the libraries are linked to have a common database and you can reserve books online and have them delivered to your nearest library. So you have a huge amount of books at your disposal.

I value having physical copies as they are easier and comfier to read. I also buy every book I’ve read for myself so I can see the fruits of my reading in my bookshelf.

I cannot overstate how great the access to academic journals, textbooks etc has been for developing science and even just giving access to obscure literature, but letting everyone post videos and contribute to the endumbening of man was very damaging. Absolute bandwidth corrupts absolutely.

E book readers I see as a potential good because they don't have social media functions and are just for books. When they are open source, and each hosting a 256gb SD card full of more books than the average library, and the only devices that survive EMP blasts, then they will have their time in the sun.
