Since I discovered this Argentinian singer I have developed a granny fetish. I dream about meeting an 80 year-old woman that looks 40. She has a bit of parkinson's, she trembles slightly when she thinks, and I find that lovely. She looks better and better every year, is rich and has a very attractive personality; we read De Maistre together while promising each other that we will enjoy every moment that we have until she dies. She is old-fashioned but strong and independent, classical and modern in different ways, a free spirit that I will never be able to own fully. Then, suddenly, she gets sick and dies in days, leaving a beautiful carcass as her only contact with this world.

I return to my house, lock the door, and close my eyes to avoid crying, knowing that I have been witness to the life of the most special woman on Earth, and that I will be unhappy forever, furious, despaired and alone.

This story is repeating itself in my head again and again. I'm obsessed. And I am disgusted by myself.

I wish that was a creepypasta. One night, I was playing Super Mario 64, AND HE SAID A NAUGHTY WORD. While travelling THE END through the Dire Dire Docks, u-upon my usual business, Mario turned his head in a 40 degree angle and said "Shh....FUCK" Then my mother comes into the room and says "ARE YOU SWEARING?" I said "IT WAS MAAARIO, NOT MEE" My moth..oh my god..my mother grabbed me by the ear and she threw me into the bathroom and, SHE THREW ME INTO THE GAME, she fed me more hair, SHE THREW ME INTO THE BATHROOM I WENT "OOOH FFFFF" She jumped on my face, she did the ground pound, she...she swung me around by the hair and said "so long, gay bowser" THIS IS A VERY SPOOKY STORY. That night, I decided to revisit the old Dire Dire Docks for further inspection. This time, Mario pivoted his face towards the camera and said "...CUNT" And he shook it! My mother...ran in, bellows "you will never to how funny that was" Chris shook his head in a really funny way. The best creepypasta are the ones that feel believable. That's the crucial aspect, I think. It's dependent on it feeling like something someone wrote up as an account of something they actually experienced or know about. So if at any point it goes too far and becomes unbelievable, it ends up ruined. The Godzilla NES game one is a good example of how to fail in this way. One that gets it right, and my personal favorite, is 1999.

It started out as a ring, or a dome of sorts.

Either way, the fog circled around town at the edges without seeping inside. It was an odd thing, being able to see perfectly within the city limits, but when you peered out into the thick, gray blanket, all you could make out was grass and blurry trees… and fog.

It wasn’t concerning at first- the town of Everly could always expect a little fog as the winter weather slowly blended into early spring. But then it wouldn’t go away, and people’d wander out, wondering where the fog ended.

They never came back.

Physically they did, returning at the late hours, stumbling back into the streets. But they weren’t themselves. They never spoke, they didn’t move much, and every night people had to barricade their doors to prevent those husks of people from going out again. God knew where they wanted to go.

We kids knew better than to mess with the Empty, which we took to calling them, and we definitely knew better than to leave town. During the day we’d play around as if something odd wasn't happening, and during nights we’d obediently return to our homes. There’d been a curfew set, which we didn’t mind, but were grateful for. And as for kids who had an Empty in their home? They’d sneak off to a friend’s just as the fog curled around, visiting the darkened streets. We were sneaky like that. We were smart.

Except Johnny.

Johnny followed the unspoken rules for a while, like any other semi-terrified child, but one day we were playing ball, and he… He welcomed it. The fog started closing in on us, and though Johnny and I knew better than to play near the edge, the ball rolled away from us, and became swallowed by the fog. I begged him not to get it, but he went anyway.

As he stepped inside the mist, I saw his body stiffen. Then he breathed deeply, drawing it into his lungs. In a watery breath, he whispered. “Come inside. It feels wonderful. Really.” Shocked and horrified, I ran home, leaving him and the ball and the mist and everything.

The next day, Johnny was standing in my yard, wordlessly holding up our red ball. asking me to come out and play without saying anything. I ignored his calls, because the fog over his eyes made it clear to me he was Empty.

In the following weeks, the fog crept closer and closer in, constricting and squeezing us. The Empty were abandoned, left with their fog, and everyone else gradually moved into the community center at the center of Everly as the fog claimed their homes.

The fog wove between the buildings, consuming more and more, until we could see the drops of moisture on the windows- the fog pressing in. And we could hear them, the Empty, pounding and moaning at the exits, begging us to let them in.

To let *it* in.
