Though I love Cormac McCarthy now, this was my exact response when I had to read Blood Meridian in high school.

I'm guessing blood meridian is denser than the road and no country for old men.

>> No.17167567

what high school would make you read Blood Meridian?

>> No.17167571

>>17167556
By light years. Only Suttree is denser and even that's a maybe.

It was for my AP English class. When I was in high school I took English, English Literature, and AP English. In my regular English class we read the bullshit stuff, like Catcher in the Rye, Othello, and The Stranger (kids with a grade of B+ or more got to read Pale Fire). In my English Literature and AP English class we read a ton of stuff like To The Lighthouse, large excerpts of Ulysses, Blood Meridian, Hamlet, Ovid's Metamorphosis, Paradise Lost, etc.

Lol how poorly coordinated was your curriculum that the teachers thought Blood Meridian was appropriate for high school kids? No one at that age is mature enough to process the book’s themes.
Either your lying or you went to a school run by pseuds

So you think it's wrong for a school, especially a class that's based around advanced placement for students who excel in the subject of literature, to teach literature that's more mature for the students?
