It's fallacious because just giving some drugs isn't equivalent to what they said. It'll be an unsustainable, hollow pleasure -- not happiness -- until the upkeep amount required exceeds what the body can take. It won't last long and it'll be irreparable.

The general concept could be interpreted as what we've always been doing, applying to all human societies past, present, and future but that would be meaninglessly broad. Realistically, any supposed hedonistic pen whether drugs or VR or whatever will have problems whether they're admitted or not (namely in sustainability for the human mind). The happiest, and well in line with waiting for the death of world, would be returning to what we are evolved for i.e. the most robust society as far as our mental wellbeing and happiness is concerned, huntergatherer societies. You could maybe simulate these with some assistance to limit pains but I think it would ruin it. Death and suffering cannot be eliminated as such more like better accounted for within a paradigm of living and they are needed for ours, for what we are. With the right way of living they are best fitted and their socially and psychologically destructive impact most limited.

What if technology could be invented so that it is sustainable? Drug addiction with current day technology/neurobiology and creating hedonium are not the same thing.
