No, he's just not that good a writer. An absolutely superb speaker, though. His lectures and talks are far more valuable than his books, generally speaking.
And he's not a pseud, just wacky. He's a pseud's worst nightmare.

Everything that McKenna does, Carlos Castaneda does more effectively.
>>17158703
He's just a scholar-dilettante when it comes to actual spiritual matters, as are most people who mistake the simple psychedelic experience for divine speech. Which is totally fine. He's very enjoyable to listen to.

are psychedelic druggies ever capable of returning to normalcy after they drop acid one too many times? because it seems like even if they stop for a long period of time, they are permanently infected with pseud intellect. it's a real shame

You just have to stop getting high. People that do psychedelics often will have a baseline of daily pot smoking and perhaps alcohol consumption. Essentially, their baseline consumption keeps them from ever returning to a useful reality. As long as you go back to full sobriety you won't have problems. But none of them do that. They are all baseline pot heads.

A very comfortable clown, from whom we may all learn in the same way we learn from all clowns. It's very funny how new-right "esotericsts" (and beyond, frankly) have latched onto his concept of "Machine Elves." Interesting interpretation of demons.

I've only read Food of the Gods. It's enjoyable and he raises some interesting hypotheses. It's worth the read if you're into the psychedelic community. His other books came off a little too pseudo-sciency for me though.

Terence had an amazing library: a 1659 folio of Isaac Casaubon's A True and Faithful Relation of what passed between Dr. John Dee and some spirits, and Agrippa's Three Books of Occult Philosophy and lots of rare Alchemical literature, that was stored by the Esalen Institute in their office space after his death. A fire wiped out the whole thing (along, I think, with some plays and short stories he was working on) and now there is a collaborative effort headed by his brother to get a complete listing of the books and manuscripts contained therein.
