Nice anon. Longest I've managed so far was 60 pages to finish off a story I was reading, usually I only do 30-40 though. But either way it's a big improvement over how shit I used to be where I could barely handle 5-10 pages.

Good to hear anon, I just started getting into reading this year and made a thread here yesterday asking for help on getting new books and what editions and anons here were so helpful, gave me tips on how long to read to help my attention span and stuff, it was a really nice thread. Set aside a bit of time to read every single day. Can be just a few minutes but keep it regular. Don't just read when you feel like it because then you'll never develop a habit of reading. Even if it feels like a chore at first you will adjust very quickly and engage more with the contents of what you're reading.

You know what kind of people wear the “zis is ze rule hurrdurr follow it” badge proudly?

People who shouldn’t wear the “zis is ze rule hurrdurr follow it” badge proudly.

Wear it in shame. Carry it with deep guilt in your psyche. Every time you type a single letter on your keyboard remind yourself of who you are. So fucking incapable of making your own rules and stick to it, so lacking in groundedness of who you are that you have to read a text teaching you how to behave.

Wear your badge with shame knowing that I wiped my shit with your pride.

I read crunchier philosophical shit in my free time, I feel I can only digest it through the active process of reading. I fear that if I listened to them in audiobook form, they wouldn't sink in.
I use audiobooks exclusively for low effort genre fiction that I don't want to waste my reading time on, but which I can listen to while doing manual labour.
