Hey guys, I'm taking my gay required English lit class. Schools make us read these "classic" works of _fiction_ and actually test us on its contents. It seems like everyone has been ignoring the giant elephant in the room, which is that literature and fictional books is absolutely useless, and is just brain masturbation, just like watching movies.

Why can't schools treat it as such? Why do they have to treat fictional books as such important things? They're not. Maybe make them optional to read for some students, but they're burning valuable time that our Indians/Chinese counterparts are spending learning actual shit like math.

TL; DR Fuck teaching kids fictional literature. It is useless and just intellectual masturbation.

Why _fiction_ instead of fiction?

retards and aspies find it hard because they don't understand figures of speech, literary devices, and symbolism

it's also good writing practice, they usually go for clarity and conciseness over flowery grandiloquence. So overall you get some lateral thinking practice and writing practice.

Scientists, economists, mathematicians, whatever you are doing, being able to write better and read more deeply helps.

Enjoy the class OP.

The funny thing about this troll is that the university doesn't treat movies like a waste of time.

Well whatcha gonna do with all that math if you've got no cultural literacy and no ordinary literacy either. Then you'll become a Chink automaton that can only take orders, instead of a creative and entrepreneurial gentleman with the world at your service.

Yes I'm responding seriously to a troll because I've got nothing better to do.

english is slightly more important than other creative subjects as you need to be able to write well for tons of jobs. but you're an idiot if you think it should be dropped for a non-creative subject. maybe thats why the west has all the best inventions? we allow people to be more creative.

actually generally people that are good at a logical subject are also good at many other subjects whereas you get tons of people that are only good at one thing like art of english. not so much just being good at science stuffs.
