There’s always a general plan, but no. I am free to pick up anything I want as I feel so inclined.
I’m not in school or autistic, so why pretend to be?

true freedom is limitation. by making a choice now you free yourself from constantly searching for the new. you set yourself a direction and a goal so you don't get lost in fleeting whims; you know where you are and where you are going because you have chosen.

Yep, planning to finish the robot series by asimov.
Finished the first and second book, just have to go and buy the rest now.

I obviously don't have the whole year planned out. I'm not a psychic, my good Yotsugiposter.
One book that's on my list is House of Leaves. /lit/ would call it Redditcore, but I was weaned on webcomics and visual novels, and hence have a soft spot for works that play around with form.
What are you going to read, anon?

Not used as a metaphor here. That anon is literally saying freedom comes from being not free.

Thanks for asking :^)

I decided to really plant my feet in theory next year. I've dabbled for a while, and it's time I filled in some gaps and revisited some texts with a fuller appreciation. I'll probably tweak the list here and there, but this is the plan so far:

>Theory:
The Complete Plato
Selected Aristotle
German Idealism—Beiser
The Science of Logic—Hegel
The Gay Science—Nietzsche
On the Genealogy of Morals
The Interpretation of Dreams—Freud
Three Essays on the Theory of Sexuality
Civilization and its Discontents
Beyond the Pleasure Principle
The Lacanian Subject—Fink
Lacan’s Seminars I, II, III, VII, XI, XX
Of Grammatology—Derrida
Difference and Repetition—Deleuze
Simulation and Simulacra—Baudrillard
The Philosophical Discourse of Modernity—Habermas
Sex and the Failed Absolute—Žižek

>Novels:
Emma—Austen
Our Mutual Friend—Dickens
The Trial—Kafka
Gravity’s Rainbow—Pynchon
Tree of Smoke—Denis Johnson
My Struggle vol. 6—Knausgaard
Frontier—Can Xue
Lincoln in the Bardo—Saunders
Death in Her Hands—Moshfegh
Unlanguage—Cisco

I'll also finish up the Monogatari series LNs, binge a manga now and again, read whatever novels my sister insists I do, and work my way through the Norton anthology of poetry.

This year was the first year I'd had a real plan for my reading. It's been a good motivator, trying to fill in a couple pictures: The Iliad, The Odyssey, The Aeneid, the Bible, (perhaps Paradife Loft by the end of the year); The Critique of Pure Reason, The Phenomenology, Being and Time; all of DFW's oeuvre. It was really satisfying building to something, rather than reading an atomized assortment of whatever I felt like. I don't have the same level of direction in my fiction goals for this year as I'd like fiction to take a back seat to theory, but I think reading chronologically then ending on semi-disparate contemporary novels will be an experience.
