One book that's on my list is House of Leaves. /lit/ would call it Redditcore, but I was weaned on webcomics and visual novels, and hence have a soft spot for works that play around with form.

I decided to really plant my feet in theory next year. I've dabbled for a while, and it's time I filled in some gaps and revisited some texts with a fuller appreciation. I'll probably tweak the list here and there, but this is the plan so far:

I'll also finish up the Monogatari series LNs, binge a manga now and again, read whatever novels my sister insists I do, and work my way through the Norton anthology of poetry.

This year was the first year I'd had a real plan for my reading. It's been a good motivator, trying to fill in a couple pictures: The Iliad, The Odyssey, The Aeneid, the Bible, (perhaps Paradife Loft by the end of the year); The Critique of Pure Reason, The Phenomenology, Being and Time; all of DFW's oeuvre. It was really satisfying building to something, rather than reading an atomized assortment of whatever I felt like. I don't have the same level of direction in my fiction goals for this year as I'd like fiction to take a back seat to theory, but I think reading chronologically then ending on semi-disparate contemporary novels will be an experience.
