If you eat healthy and lift, you become better at swimming.
I mean Yes in the limited sense that doing pushups alone don't do the job.

Generally yes. You’re not going to get good at writing literary fiction by reading chick lit or autistic hard sci-fi stuff, but you might get good at writing in that genre. Even if you just read tons of fanfiction, you would pick up on the tropes of fanfiction and be able to do it better than other people.

There are useful things you can learn that are more than just absorbing through osmosis. Explicit knowledge of grammar, how to structure simple, complex, and compound-complex sentences. I’m sure there are many more.

yes. every great writer is or was a prolific reader.
you also need to write, however.

Obviously. Being a student of wrestling will make you a better wrestler. However, everyone knows that if you want to be a good wrestler you have to practice wrestling. If the idea is that simply reading will make you a good writer, then not only does that ignore the obvious fact that not everyone can be a good writer regardless of how much they read, but it’s obviously a desperate attempt to simply justify consumer tendencies and lit fetishism.
