It's fine. Nothing I would call memeworthy even though I am not exactly sure of what you mean.
Only good part of the first book is the cultural revolution stuff. Second book is much better and has interesting concepts for sci-fi enthusiasts. Didn't really like this book
I'd say go for it. I can't think of much contemporary sci-fi that's worth reading

the first books is just ok but the series gets more and more interesting in terms of sci fi ideas as it progresses. it has great scope and a neat plot that really goes places. unfortunately the actual characters are fucking shit and it keeps doing this cheat thing where they freeze themselves so you can still keep the same shit characters in different eras

if you can get over that it's well worth it
