Some critical essays by Julien Gracq, really comfy, you can see he really loves what he's talking about and he has one of the best prose of the second half of the 20th century. He talks about Lautréamont, Breton, Balzac, Jarry, Jünger, Novalis, Poe, d'Aurevilly, Kleist and the state of literature in general in post-war France.

Threads on /lit/, threads on /tv/, threads on /x/, some chapters of Aria in Japanese, Hound Voice by W.B Yeats - I've been reading one of his works every day, some pages from Oregairu All Star Anthology - I'm interested only in Wataru's chapter, I've mostly been reflecting a couple of about Emil Cioran's aphorisms in The Trouble with Being Born, “Everyone expiates his first moment.”

Started with some Girl with the Dragon Tattoo during breakfast.
For university, Brechts Kleinbürgerhochzeit. I actually had two different editions before me, one digital, one physical, and I wasted(?) quite some time comparing them. Also already had read the text maybe a year earlier, but I didn't like it then and I didn't like it now.
Next, for the same seminar, an article about - I don't quite know, the sociological figure of the Third as originated by Simmel and its use in analyzing short plays around 1900. Also didn't like, but atleast it exposed me to a new concept I didn't quite know before.
Finally some Strunk/White: Styles of Writing for my writing group, where the task due tomorrow is to write something that radically breaks one of the rules in there. Unfortunatly, I don't have an idea yet.

a couple chapters of pic releated
it is a compelling case he makes, and very well put forward. a demanding case, not an easy religion. I'm more or less 100% convinced Tolstois interpretation of the Gospel is right, except possibly that he downplays the role of God the Creator too much. Also, perhaps, the case for "living in the now" was not very well rooted in scripture imo, though it may be that it is rooted in the true knowledge of the spirit.

Also read a little from a book I found about a woman who was sold to be a bride in rural yemen in the 80s. classic ghost-written stuff. I don't think I'll finish it though, I only wanted to read about a rural arab community and I got what I came for

i also read another two chapters of wolf solent by john cowper powys. this book is often genius, with very beautiful writing, most brilliant in its descriptions of the main character's fantasies as they blend with descriptions of nature. but i must confess i think the book is overly long and the plot is scattered, and whilst the writing is beautiful it is also often overwrought, and always quite dense, so it is hard going. i need a break from this book.

Also read his exchanges with Lakatos if you ever get a chance, they did a book together
