Who here believes in the butterfly effect? Could me posting something this random and idiotic really cause some minor change in one of your brains that would trigger a chain of events that could eventually lead to a profound thought in the mind of someone down the line who never even saw it?

>> No.17004417

It's very possible, Anon; just look back on all the things that influenced you, and created the person typing today. Aren't we all the result of something as absurd as the lust in our father's eye?

True, very true. Every thought any of us have ever had has been the natural result of previous thoughts that we have had and that others have shared with us. For all we know, genius is the result of a million bad ideas in perfect sync.

it´s not like we "believe", it´s a fact, and that doesnt work the retarded way you are telling. it´s more like minor different conditions can lead to drastically different results sometimes.

Sounds pretty much like you just summed up what I said in a concise and less whimsical manner.

Anyway, I suppose you could debate whether or not it is possible for the butterfly effect to conditionally work in, as you put it, the retarded way I am telling.

I consider the most influential and greatest accomplishments of my entire life to be posting here. I coined the term midwit and a number of other phrases and memes. I've seen my ideas and writings become popular. I did it all for free and I'm not even a janny. I made such a contribution to humanity all anonymously and to no real benefit to me.

Mmmm, let's assume infinite lines, or better yet, pathways of causations. You can always follow a single line backward and say "Hey, what-do-ya-know, what a quirky and unique incident!" You can't do the same exercise forward, there are too many permutations. It's cherry-picking in a nutshell. Could, say, a butterfly landing on a leaf cause an event, evolutionary or otherwise, somewhere on down the line? I highly doubt it, there are too many variables at play. Could the butterfly landing on a leaf be the straw that broke the camel's back leading to an emergence of species of sentient lizard people? I suppose, in some parallel universe. Would it ever be possible to prove empirically that it was the butterfly? Pfft, not a chance. Sorry for all the idioms.

Submit something unfinished, or a piece of flash fiction, or something old in your possession that you would have thrown away.

It doesn't have to be good. In fact I expect most of it to be shit. Can't pay anyone yet. Maybe issue number two.

Anyway send something, something small.

I can't have a son, I'm such a raging homosexual that even if I somehow fucked a woman, my sperm would run away from the egg screaming.
