Ok. I read some of it on Amazon and it seemed really good, but some reviewer said it was mediocre so I wasn't sure

the first part where he is a NEET is hilarious but the doomed romance in the main 2/3 of the book did not interest me

Yes, incredibly good. Oblomov is the ultimate incarnation of the superfluous man. The first part of the book is hilarious and almost satirical. The second part is triumphant, joyous, optimistic, something you don't see in superfluous man/Byronic hero novels very often. The last two parts are heart-crushingly tragic. It is one of the best novels I've ever read, highly recommend.

It drags at parts, but is well worth reading if you like 19th century Russian stuff, or if you are a NEET, or are a lazy person.
