Do books about masculinity help discover how to be masculine?
I'm not masculine at all and I'm short too. I'm trying to cope with this without learning how to be gay or a tranny.
Theres no worthwhile cope is there? Especially if you're not handsome twink looking like some asian pop star that girls like.

You do the opposite of read idiot. You just act and throw out any thoughts that don't facilitate winning. Once you've mastered this then you can think and think grand thoughts. But first if you don't act and push the boundaries of your courage then it's all fruitless

Why if my definition of winning isn't what masculine people consider winning because keep down I don't approve of masculine methods as they don't resonate with me?
I'm too nice and I feel bad when I encroach or take control.

start with the Greeks, grow competence by learning a skill (profession, trade, whatever you can do, just be very good) and living life.

t. Manly Chad, you probably won't be a chad but if you're genuinely manly (somewhat less attractive) women will still be attracted to you.

>>16955846
I'm not sure if I can even reevaluate them sufficiently enough. I'm like this because I tried to be masculine and it didn't work. It backfires because I don't have the nerve to back it up.

I'm suspicious of any book that makes such a transparent attempt to commodify masculinity

Rather than start with the Greeks, I'd recommend picking up a book related to a particular skill you'd like to learn. Identify any current hobbies based in consumption and infantilization (vidya, anime, fandoms, etc.) and replace them with an activity that's productive

I'll also add that getting at least somewhat /fit/ is probably the best first step towards becoming more traditionally masculine. Cutting out processed foods alone can have a huge impact; a modern diet can wreak physiological havoc and definitely contributes to emasculation

I always wondered this but what is inherently wrong with video games?

>> No.16956195

Waste of time, especially twitch shooters.
Shit like Arma maybe has some merit for war simulation but it's mostly virtual LARP.
Strategy games like 4x are useful exercises, some RTS games are also nice.

not the other guy but here's my thoughts

the problem is adopting "gamer" as an identity and investing too much (however you define it) money and time into the hobby.

There's nothing inherently "wrong" about vidya or similar hobbies, they're just a waste of time that could be better spent on self-improvement and skill development. I rarely play video games because when I do, I always feel like there's something more important I could be doing. No one's a perfect machine and sometimes you just need to zone out, but be aware that time is finite and there's a value hierarchy of recreation activities

Envision the "consummate man" or an ideally masculine version of yourself. Does that guy spend hours a day playing video games?

Hobbies are something to be done after you achieve your goals. If you still have shit you ought to be getting done work on that.
If you accomplished everything you want to do then play vidya to your hearts content ig.

I quit last year, I'll return to them when i'm 50
