Don't have a favorite book for 2020, but I do have a favorite new publisher. I've been buying most of Antelope Hill's books and been enjoying them. They'll probably get shoahed eventually now that >>16929156 is getting heat from blue checkmarks.

Book of the year lists are somewhat absurd. Firstly, they're always published before the year is over. Not to mention no one reads enough books to actually judge this with any sort of accuracy. And if all you read is new books, chances are your perspective on whether or not a book is good is totally warped by low quality books

like, the etiquette surrounding a fairly obscure disorder is somehow the most important issue on earth to the point that an entire generation of young men have constructed their personal identity on their refusal to follow that etiquette, complete with social rituals of publicly accusing each other of having the disorder to show everyone how adamant they are in their insistence to break the etiquette whenever they can.
